Tests.
There are now three separate elements to the driving test
- theory test, hazard perception test and the practical (only
2 seperate tests as the theory & hazard perception tests
are combined).
The theory test deals with the following:
driver attitude
traffic signs and regulations
effects of alcohol, drugs and fatigue on driver behaviour
safety and environmental aspects of vehicles
There are 35 multiple choice questions dealing with the above.
You will also be test on your hazard perception skills (14
different video clips requiring the identification of 15 hazards)
and you will need to pass this part of the test at the same
time as your theory test.In order to help you pass the hazard
perception test and theory test, Brian has a variety of CD's
and books available for you to borrow.
The practical driving test will last approximately 40 minutes
in a variety of road traffic conditions. Before the test begins
you will be asked two questions which relate to vehicle safety
and maintenance. Failure to answer these questions correctly
will result in one fault being recorded. One serious or dangerous
driving fault or 16 minor faults (driver errors) will result
in failure of the practical driving test.
